Why riders choose the Dualtron Thunder III

Dualtron Thunder 3: Dual 2500W Power, 72V 40Ah & NUTT Brakes

The verified 72V hardware behind Thunder 3 performance, long-range capability and high-speed control.

01 Motor performance

Dual 2500W motors with up to 100 km/h

The Thunder III uses two 2500W nominal hub motors on a 72V platform. Dualtron lists a top speed of approximately 100 km/h under appropriate unrestricted conditions.

This is flagship-level performance intended for experienced riders and suitable riding environments, not ordinary last-mile commuting. Smooth throttle inputs and conservative mode selection are essential when traction is limited.

  • 2 × 2500 WNominal motors
  • Approx. 100 km/hTop speed
  • 72 VSystem voltage

Maximum speed is a manufacturer figure for an unrestricted configuration. Rider weight, battery level, temperature, setup, traction, and riding conditions affect performance.

02 Between charges

72V 40Ah battery with up to 170 km claimed

The 72V 40Ah battery uses LG or Samsung cells and is listed for up to approximately 170 km under favourable conditions. Charging is about 28 hours with the standard setup, around eight hours with one compatible fast charger, or roughly four hours with two.

The maximum range represents efficient riding. High speed, dual-motor acceleration, hills, cold weather, rider weight, wind, and repeated hard launches can reduce distance dramatically.

  • 72V 40AhBattery
  • Up to 170 kmClaimed range
  • 4–28 hrCharge-time range

The 170 km figure is a best-case manufacturer rating. Real-world range is substantially lower at high speed, on hills, in winter, or with frequent hard acceleration.

03 Ride control

NUTT hydraulic braking with adjustable cartridge suspension

Front and rear NUTT hydraulic disc brakes use 160 mm rotors and are supported by electronic braking assistance for controlled stopping on a heavy, high-output platform.

Eleven-inch tubeless tires work with adjustable front and rear rubber-cartridge suspension, allowing the ride to be tuned for rider weight and surface conditions.

  • NUTT hydraulic160 mm brakes
  • 11-inchTubeless tires
  • AdjustableCartridge suspension

Hydraulic brakes require inspection and eventual bleeding. Tire pressure, brake condition, steering hardware, and suspension setup should be checked frequently.

04 Weather and visibility

IPX5 protection with dual LED headlights

The Thunder III carries an IPX5 water-resistance rating and includes dual LED headlights and rear lighting for improved visibility during lower-light riding.

IPX5 protects against rain and road spray under controlled conditions, but it does not make the scooter waterproof. Avoid standing water, pressure washing, and charging before the port is dry.

  • IPX5Water resistance
  • Dual LEDHeadlights
  • IntegratedRear lighting

IPX5 does not cover immersion, deep puddles, pressure washing, or long-term water damage. Dry the scooter after wet rides.

05 Storage and weight

47.3 kg with a folding performance chassis

The Thunder III weighs approximately 47.3 kg, supports riders up to 120 kg, and folds to about 1208 × 317 × 577 mm.

Folding reduces storage length, but this is not a carry scooter. Ground-level storage and suitable vehicle access are much more realistic than stairs or public transit.

  • 47.3 kgProduct weight
  • 120 kgMax rider load
  • 1208 × 317 × 577 mmFolded size

Folding reduces storage size, not lifting weight. Ground-level storage is strongly recommended for a 47.3 kg scooter.

Dualtron Thunder 3 (Thunder III) Electric Scooter

The Dualtron Thunder III, commonly searched as the Dualtron Thunder 3, is a 72V flagship performance scooter for experienced riders who want high-output dual motors, a large battery and adjustable ride-control hardware without stepping up to the even larger X Limited.

Dualtron Thunder 3 Top Speed and Dual 2500W Motors

Two 2500W nominal motors provide 5000W combined nominal output. Dualtron lists a top speed of approximately 100 km/h in an appropriate unrestricted configuration. This level of performance is intended for suitable private or controlled riding environments and experienced riders.

72V 40Ah Battery and Long-Range Capability

The 72V 40Ah LG/Samsung-cell battery is listed for up to approximately 170 km under favourable efficient-riding conditions. High speed, hills, cold weather, wind and repeated hard acceleration can reduce that figure substantially. Published charging times range from roughly 28 hours with the standard setup to about four hours with two compatible fast chargers.

NUTT Brakes and Adjustable Cartridge Suspension

Front and rear NUTT hydraulic brakes with 160 mm rotors, electronic braking assistance, 11-inch tubeless tires and adjustable front/rear rubber-cartridge suspension provide the control hardware expected from a heavyweight performance scooter.

I drove all the way from Seattle to bring my daughter's scooter to ProMechBC and I could not be more pleased with both the repairs and the customer service. I will definitely be bringing the scooter North of the border when it needs some love.

Recently had an accident with my Apollo Go — luckily nothing major was damaged, but it still needed some repair and replacement parts. Service was great, and I got my scooter back within a week. :D
