Why riders choose the Mercedes Benz Track Edition

What makes it a premium performance urban e-bike.

Every figure below is labelled with where it comes from, so a manufacturer’s claim never reads as a measurement.

01 Motor

Null, geared for gradient

250W with four power modes/ 750W with four power modes/ OFF – No motor assist, NORMAL - Low boost, SPORT - Energy conservation for long rides, SPORT-PLUS – A set-it-and-forget-it balance of power and efficiency. Watts set the ceiling; what you feel on a grade is how much pulling power is available low in the range, where a climb from a standstill actually happens.

Torque is what you feel; watts are what the marketing quotes. A motor with useful pulling power low in its range gets you moving from a standstill on a gradient — at a light, on a driveway apron, halfway up a climb you had to stop on. Those are the moments that decide whether a bike gets ridden or parked.

Any climbing claim assumes a rider putting in their share. A throttle-only ascent drains the pack far faster than the range figure suggests.

02 The battery

How far, honestly

250w Motor: 60miles /100km/ 750w Motor :70miles /110km claimed, 48V, 10AH in North America or 36V, 10Ah in Europe. The figure that shapes your week is not the maximum but the margin left at the end of an ordinary day, in the cold, with the lights on.

Every battery is a consumable, and how you treat it decides whether that means five years or two. Charging to full only when you need the full range, keeping it off the charger once it is there, and storing it indoors through winter are worth more to its lifespan than any figure on the spec sheet.

Lithium packs lose capacity with age and with cold. A two-year-old battery in February will not do what a new one did in July, and no range figure on any page accounts for that.

03 Stopping

Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, and why it matters

Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, Pirelli Angel Urban GT, 27.5x2.125" tyres. Stopping distance is set by the contact patch as much as by the caliper: hardware can only ask for as much grip as the tyre has to give, which is why both are quoted here rather than just the one that sounds impressive.

Stopping distance is set by the tyre as much as by the caliper. The best brakes in the world cannot exceed the grip available, which is why contact patch, compound and pressure matter as much on a wet Vancouver morning as the hardware clamping the rotor.

  • Tektro hydraulic disc brakesBrakes

BC requires a standard e-bike to stop from 32 km/h within 9 m on clean, level pavement. That is a dry-surface test — assume noticeably longer in Vancouver rain, and leave the gap to prove it.

04 Comfort

Sized for Frame Size: Small / Medium / Large

Frame Size: Small / Medium / Large, 6061 Aluminum Alloy frame. Fit decides whether a bike is still being ridden in month three, and it is the one specification a photograph cannot tell you — reach, standover and saddle height interact, and two riders of the same height with different inseams want genuinely different setups.

Come and stand over it. Ten minutes with the saddle at the right height tells you more than any size chart, and it is the difference between a bike that disappears underneath you and one you are always slightly negotiating with.

  • 6061 Aluminum AlloyFrame

Height charts assume average proportions. Two riders at the same height with different inseams will want different setups, so treat any published range as a starting point and expect to move the saddle and bars.

05 Gears

Where the assist stops and you start

Throttle: 750w Motor: Max throttle assist speed: 20 MPH, Class 1. Gearing decides what the motor is asked to do: the right gear on a climb keeps you spinning and keeps the drive unit cool and efficient, and the wrong one grinds through your knees and your range at the same time.

Assist cut-off is set by regulation, not by ambition, and a bike that keeps helping past the legal limit is a different legal class the moment it leaves the shop. Knowing where the motor stops and you start is worth understanding before you buy rather than after.

Pedal-assist levels are a controller setting, not a measurement. What one brand tunes into its middle level another spreads across two, so treat the count as a range of options rather than as a spec you can compare across bikes.

I drove all the way from Seattle to bring my daughter's scooter to ProMechBC and I could not be more pleased with both the repairs and the customer service. I will definitely be bringing the scooter North of the border when it needs some love.

Recently had an accident with my Apollo Go — luckily nothing major was damaged, but it still needed some repair and replacement parts. Service was great, and I got my scooter back within a week. :D
