VSETT 9 APEX: Dual-Motor Performance Scooter Features

Every figure below is labelled with where it comes from, so a manufacturer’s claim never reads as a measurement.

01 Off the line

Dual 700W motors with up to 2600W listed max output

The VSETT 9 APEX uses dual 700W motors. Current structured store data lists up to 2600W maximum system output; the previous 600W peak figure was incorrect because it was lower than the nominal motor rating.

  • 2 × 700 WRated motors
  • 2600 WListed max output
  • 55 km/hStore-listed speed

Manufacturer power figures are measured on a bench, not on a hill with a rider on board. Use them to compare models, not to predict what you will feel.

02 Distance

70 km claimed, and what that means

70 km claimed, 48V 19.2Ah. Charging takes 5-6 Hours, and that is the figure that actually shapes your week — a pack you top up overnight without thinking about it beats a bigger one you have to plan around.

Every battery is a consumable, and how you treat it decides whether that means five years or two. Charging to full only when you need the full range, keeping it off the charger once it is there, and storing it indoors through winter are worth more to its lifespan than any figure on the spec sheet.

  • 70 kmClaimed range
  • 48 VBattery
  • 5-6 HoursCharge time

70 km is the manufacturer's figure, measured on flat ground, in warm weather, with a light rider holding a steady low speed. Vancouver hills, winter temperatures and stop-start traffic all cost you range. We have not yet run our own road test on this one; when we do, the tested figure goes in the spec table beside the claim.

03 Ride feel

8" x 3" of contact patch

Front and Rear Hydraulic Disc Brakes, 8" x 3" tyres. Braking, tyre and suspension are one system and only as good as the weakest of the three: the best calipers stop nothing once the tyre lets go, and grip is what suspension exists to protect when the surface stops cooperating. All of it is working against 28 kg of machine before you add a rider, which is the load every stop has to absorb.

Confidence is the actual product here. A machine that stops predictably, in the wet, from speed, on a surface you did not choose, is one you ride assertively and therefore safely. One you have to think about is one you ride tentatively, which is its own kind of risk.

  • 120 kgMax rider weight

Hydraulic discs give the best stopping force per finger, and they need bleeding eventually. Bring it in when the lever starts feeling soft rather than waiting for it to reach the bar.

Integrated lighting for everyday visibility

Integrated headlights, rear lighting, turn signals and steering-stem lighting improve visibility and reduce the need for add-on lights. A numeric water-resistance rating is not stated here because the available product sources conflict on that specification.

  • IntegratedLighting system
  • Front & Rear SpringSuspension

Water resistance should not be treated as waterproofing. Avoid deep water, pressure washing and charging while the scooter or charge port is wet.

28 kg to carry

28 kg. The number that decides whether a scooter gets used is rarely the range — it is whether you can carry it up a flight of stairs, into a boot or onto a bus rack without planning your day around it. Rated to 120 kg, so the weight it carries and the weight you carry are both accounted for.

Weight and folded size are a trade against everything else on this page. Bigger batteries, real suspension and proper brakes all add mass, and the right answer depends entirely on whether your ride ends at a bike rack or at the top of three flights. Be honest about which one you have.

  • 28 kgWeight
  • 120 kgMax rider weight

28 kg is a two-handed lift for most people, not a one-handed one. If it has to go on a bus rack or up stairs daily, come and pick it up in the shop first.

VSETT 9 APEX Electric Scooter

The VSETT 9 APEX is a compact dual-motor electric scooter for riders who want stronger acceleration and braking than a typical commuter without moving to an oversized performance chassis. Its two 700W motors are listed for up to 2,600W maximum output, with a manufacturer-rated top speed of up to 55 km/h.

Battery, Range, and Charging

The 48V 19.2Ah battery is listed for up to 50–70 km under favourable conditions, with approximately 5–6 hours of charging. Speed, hills, rider weight, temperature, wind, tire pressure, and frequent acceleration can reduce real-world range substantially.

VSETT 9 APEX vs. VSETT 9+

The APEX keeps the compact character associated with the VSETT 9 family while adding a more modern performance package and hydraulic braking. Riders comparing it with the VSETT 9+ should focus on battery configuration, brake hardware, controls, and current parts compatibility rather than relying only on model names.

Control on Urban Roads

Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes provide direct stopping control, while 8 × 3-inch pneumatic tires increase the contact patch compared with narrower commuter tires. Front and rear spring suspension helps absorb road seams and broken pavement. At about 28 kg, the scooter folds for storage but remains a substantial two-handed lift.

I drove all the way from Seattle to bring my daughter's scooter to ProMechBC and I could not be more pleased with both the repairs and the customer service. I will definitely be bringing the scooter North of the border when it needs some love.

Recently had an accident with my Apollo Go — luckily nothing major was damaged, but it still needed some repair and replacement parts. Service was great, and I got my scooter back within a week. :D
