Why the Explore 2.0

Apollo Explore 2.0: Single-Motor Power, Range & Ride Comfort

A feature-level look at the Explore 2.0 motor, mode-based range, suspension, braking and everyday portability.

01 Motor performance

Up to 1650W peak from a single-motor platform

The Explore 2.0 uses a single motor with Apollo MACH controller technology and up to 1650W of peak output. Apollo lists a top speed of up to 40 km/h.

Eco, Normal, Sport, and Ludo modes let riders choose between efficiency and stronger acceleration. The single-motor layout keeps the platform simpler and lighter than Apollo’s larger dual-motor models.

  • 1650 WPeak output
  • 40 km/hTop speed
  • 4Ride modes

Peak output and top speed are manufacturer ratings. Rider weight, battery level, hills, wind, and temperature can reduce real-world performance.

02 Between charges

648Wh battery with mode-based range

The 48V 13.5Ah battery provides 648Wh of capacity. Apollo lists up to 60 km in Eco, approximately 44 km in Normal, 35 km in Sport, and 25 km in Ludo mode, with an estimated eight-hour charge time.

The mode-specific figures show the practical trade-off clearly: stronger acceleration and higher speed use more energy. Hills, cold weather, rider weight, wind, and tire pressure reduce range further.

  • 648 WhBattery capacity
  • Up to 60 kmEco range
  • Approx. 8 hrCharge time

The 60 km figure is a best-case manufacturer rating in Eco mode. Real-world range is lower when speed, hills, cold, wind, and repeated acceleration increase.

03 Ride control

Triple-spring comfort with Power RBS braking

Triple-spring suspension and 10-inch self-healing tubeless tires help smooth broken pavement while preserving the grip and cushioning of an air-filled tire.

A front drum brake provides durable mechanical stopping, while Apollo Power RBS adds progressive regenerative braking through a dedicated control and helps reduce wear during routine deceleration.

  • Triple-springSuspension
  • 10-inchSelf-healing tires
  • Drum + RBSBraking system

Self-healing tires do not prevent every flat, and regenerative braking does not replace the front drum brake. Maintain tire pressure and inspect braking components regularly.

IP66 protection and 360-degree visibility

The Explore 2.0 carries an IP66 water-resistance rating and combines a front light, handlebar and rear turn signals, rear lighting, and stem or deck illumination for visibility from multiple angles.

The battery and scooter are listed with UL 2271 and UL 2272 certification. Water resistance still requires sensible care: avoid standing water and pressure washing, and dry the charge port before connecting power.

  • IP66Water resistance
  • IntegratedTurn signals
  • UL 2271/2272Certifications

IP66 is a controlled-test rating, not a waterproof guarantee. It does not cover immersion, deep puddles, pressure washing, or long-term water damage.

05 Storage and carrying

27.2 kg with a fast-folding stem

The Explore 2.0 weighs approximately 27.2 kg and supports riders up to 120 kg. Its folding mechanism and rear carry point make vehicle loading and indoor storage more practical than on many larger performance scooters.

It is still a substantial two-handed lift rather than an ultra-light last-mile scooter. Daily stair carrying should be tested in person before purchase.

  • 27.2 kgProduct weight
  • 120 kgMax rider load
  • FoldingStem design

A folding stem reduces storage size, not lifting weight. Confirm that 27.2 kg is practical for your stairs, vehicle, and storage routine.

Apollo Explore 2.0: Single-Motor Performance, Refined

The Apollo Explore 2.0 is built for riders who want more power and suspension travel than a basic commuter without the weight and complexity of a large dual-motor scooter. Its single motor delivers up to 1650W peak power, paired with a 48V 13.5Ah battery and a manufacturer-rated range of up to 60 km in Eco mode.

Triple-spring suspension and 10-inch PunctureGuard self-healing tubeless tires help manage rough pavement, while a front drum brake and Apollo Power RBS regenerative braking keep routine maintenance relatively simple. Browse the full Apollo scooter collection or compare the Explore with the dual-motor Apollo City and flagship Apollo Phantom Stellar.

Designed for Everyday Range and Control

The DOT display, integrated lighting, IP66 water resistance and Apollo App support make the Explore 2.0 a connected everyday scooter. Its wide deck and 60 lb weight give it a more planted feel than many lightweight commuters, though it is not intended for frequent stair carrying.

Who Is the Apollo Explore 2.0 Best For?

Choose the Explore 2.0 for urban commuting, longer paved routes and riders who value smooth single-motor power. Riders who need maximum hill performance or very high speed should compare Apollo's dual-motor models instead.

I drove all the way from Seattle to bring my daughter's scooter to ProMechBC and I could not be more pleased with both the repairs and the customer service. I will definitely be bringing the scooter North of the border when it needs some love.

Recently had an accident with my Apollo Go — luckily nothing major was damaged, but it still needed some repair and replacement parts. Service was great, and I got my scooter back within a week. :D
