Why riders choose the Dualtron New Achilleus

What makes it a high-performance scooter.

Every figure below is labelled with where it comes from, so a manufacturer’s claim never reads as a measurement.

01 Power

Climbs to 30° without drama

4648 W Dual Motor, rated to 80 km/h. It is rated to 30°, and that gradient figure is the one that matters here — Vancouver has more hills than flat, and the fourth of them on the ride home is where an underpowered machine starts to fade.

The honest test of a drive system is the fourth hill of the ride home, when the pack is down and your legs are done. A motor sized with headroom is still pulling cleanly there; one chosen to hit a price is audibly working. We would rather you rode this one up a real Vancouver grade than took our word for it.

  • 80 km/hTop speed
  • 30°Max gradient

A gradient rating is measured with a light rider on dry ground. Loaded, wet, or with a low battery, treat 30° as optimistic.

02 Range

120 km claimed, and what that means

120 km claimed, 60V 35Ah – LG 21700. The figure that shapes your week is not the maximum but the margin left at the end of an ordinary day, in the cold, with the lights on.

Range is the most quoted figure in this category and the least reliable, because it is measured in the conditions most favourable to it. What actually shapes your week is charge time and how much margin you have left at the end of a normal day — a pack you top up twice a week without thinking about it beats a bigger one you have to plan around.

  • 120 kmClaimed range
  • 60 VBattery

120 km is the manufacturer's figure, measured on flat ground, in warm weather, with a light rider holding a steady low speed. Vancouver hills, winter temperatures and stop-start traffic all cost you range. We have not yet run our own road test on this one; when we do, the tested figure goes in the spec table beside the claim.

03 Stopping

11 inches of contact patch

Front & Rear Nutt Hydraulic disc brakes/ Magnetic, 11 inches tyres. Braking, tyre and suspension are one system and only as good as the weakest of the three: the best calipers stop nothing once the tyre lets go, and grip is what suspension exists to protect when the surface stops cooperating. All of it is working against 40.2 kg of machine before you add a rider, which is the load every stop has to absorb.

The wet-painted lines, steel plates and tram-smooth crossings this city is full of are the real test. Grip is not a number you can read off a page — it is contact patch, compound and how much the suspension keeps the tyre pressed to the road when the surface stops cooperating.

  • 11 inchesTyre
  • 40.2 kgWeight
  • 120 kgMax rider weight

Hydraulic discs give the best stopping force per finger, and they need bleeding eventually. Bring it in when the lever starts feeling soft rather than waiting for it to reach the bar.

04 Weather

Seen in the dark at 4pm

Headlight: Yes, 11 inches tyres. Half of the riding year here is wet and dark, which puts sealing and lighting in the same category as brakes rather than in the category of extras. 45-step adjustable new rubber suspension, 9 step variable suspension system + 5 kinds of rubber cartridge replaceable design keeps the tyre pressed to a surface that stops cooperating the moment it rains.

A weather rating describes a test, not a promise. It tells you the machine was built with sealing in mind, which matters — but rinsing road salt off after a wet ride, drying the charge port before connecting, and keeping it out of standing water will do more for its fifth winter than any rating on the box.

  • 11 inchesTyre

No electric ride is waterproof, whatever the rating. Rain is fine; puddles deep enough to reach the hub are not, and salt spray in winter is worse than either.

05 Folded

40.2 kg to carry

40.2 kg, folded to 125 x 27,5 x 56 cm. The number that decides whether a scooter gets used is rarely the range — it is whether you can carry it up a flight of stairs, into a boot or onto a bus rack without planning your day around it. Rated to 120 kg, so the weight it carries and the weight you carry are both accounted for.

A folding mechanism is the part that gets used most and inspected least. Latches loosen, hinges develop play, and a stem that has gone slightly loose is the most common thing we tighten on a bench. Fold it a few times before you buy, and check that same joint every few months after.

  • 40.2 kgWeight
  • 125 x 27,5 x 56 cmFolded

40.2 kg is a two-handed lift for most people, not a one-handed one. If it has to go on a bus rack or up stairs daily, come and pick it up in the shop first.

Dualtron New Achilleus Electric Scooter

The Dualtron New Achilleus Electric Scooter is a refined high-performance model built for riders who want serious dual-motor power and long-range capability without stepping into the extreme size and weight of Dualtron’s largest flagship machines.

The current New Achilleus combines a 60V platform, large 35Ah LG battery, upgraded NUTT hydraulic brakes, adjustable cartridge suspension, 11-inch tubeless tires, an EY4 Bluetooth display, and extensive lighting in a chassis that remains substantially more manageable than models such as the Storm LTD or X LTD.

Dual-Motor Performance with Up to 4,648W Max Power

The New Achilleus uses a dual hub-motor drivetrain capable of producing up to 4,648W of maximum output.

Dualtron rates the current model for speeds of up to approximately 70 km/h, giving it considerably more performance than a conventional commuter while stopping short of the extreme 100+ km/h figures associated with the brand’s largest hyper-scooters.

This makes the Achilleus particularly attractive to riders who want strong acceleration, dependable hill performance, and high-speed recreational capability without buying more scooter than they realistically need.

60V 35Ah LG Battery for Long-Distance Riding

The current New Achilleus is equipped with a 60V 35Ah battery, providing approximately 2.1 kWh of capacity and using LG M50LT 21700 cells.

Dualtron’s official UK distributor lists a maximum range of up to 120 km under favourable conditions. As always, actual range depends heavily on rider weight, speed, terrain, elevation, temperature, tire pressure, and how aggressively both motors are used.

The large battery makes the Achilleus especially interesting for longer urban or recreational rides where smaller 15–20Ah packs may require more frequent charging.

Dual Charging Support

The New Achilleus also supports dual charging, allowing compatible chargers to be used simultaneously.

That matters on a scooter with a 35Ah battery because charging a pack this large with a low-current standard charger can take many hours. Dual charging gives owners the flexibility to prioritize slower routine charging or reduce downtime when faster turnaround is needed.

NUTT Hydraulic Disc Brakes

One of the important updates to the newest Achilleus is the move to NUTT hydraulic disc brakes.

These replace the older Zoom system used on previous Achilleus versions and are intended to provide stronger modulation and a firmer braking feel. The upgrade is particularly meaningful given the scooter’s performance potential and relatively substantial chassis.

Adjustable Cartridge Suspension

The New Achilleus retains one of Dualtron’s signature features: front and rear adjustable rubber-cartridge suspension.

Different cartridge stiffness options allow owners to tune the ride according to rider weight, terrain, and personal preference. This system is mechanically different from conventional coil-over suspension, but it gives the Achilleus useful flexibility between softer comfort-oriented setups and firmer performance-oriented tuning.

11-Inch Tubeless Tires

The scooter rides on 11-inch tubeless tires, giving it a larger and more planted footprint than the 10-inch wheels commonly found on mid-range performance scooters.

Combined with the suspension and wide chassis, the larger tires help make the New Achilleus well suited to longer high-speed road riding and imperfect urban pavement.

EY4 Display & Minimotors App Connectivity

The latest generation receives Dualtron’s newer EY4 waterproof display with Bluetooth connectivity.

Through the Minimotors App, riders can access scooter diagnostics and supported customization features, including speed settings, lighting controls, mileage data, temperature information, and other ride parameters.

A 4-digit security PIN also provides an additional digital anti-theft layer.

For riders upgrading from an older Dualtron equipped with the classic EY3 throttle display, the EY4 system is one of the most noticeable everyday improvements.

Wider Handlebar & Stronger Steering Assembly

The New Achilleus received meaningful structural changes as well.

The handlebar has been widened by approximately 10 cm, providing more steering leverage and a roomier cockpit. Dualtron also introduced a three-bolt steering-column design intended to increase rigidity and reduce unwanted movement in the folding assembly.

These changes matter more than they may initially appear, especially on a scooter intended for faster recreational riding.

30W Headlight & RGB Lighting

A new 30W LED headlight improves forward visibility compared with older Achilleus generations.

RGB accent lighting runs through areas including the suspension arms, deck, and steering column, while the redesigned rear footrest integrates tail and brake lighting.

The lighting system gives the Achilleus the distinctive nighttime appearance associated with Dualtron while also improving practical visibility.

New Achilleus vs. Storm LTD

The New Achilleus and Storm LTD appeal to riders shopping for serious Dualtron performance, but their priorities are noticeably different.

The Storm LTD moves into an 84V system with a much larger battery, dramatically more motor output, and substantially greater overall weight. The New Achilleus stays with a 60V 35Ah platform and approximately 40 kg chassis, making it considerably easier to store and handle.

For riders who genuinely want hyper-scooter performance and enormous battery capacity, the Storm LTD is the stronger platform. For someone who wants a high-performance Dualtron that remains somewhat practical for regular ownership, the Achilleus can be the more balanced option.

Performance Without Extreme Flagship Weight

At approximately 40 kg, the New Achilleus is not a lightweight scooter. Carrying it upstairs every day would still be inconvenient.

However, that weight is significantly more manageable than flagship Dualtrons approaching 50–80+ kg. This allows the Achilleus to occupy a useful middle ground: large and substantial enough for confident performance riding, but not so oversized that storage and transportation become almost impossible.

Who Is the Dualtron New Achilleus Best For?

The Dualtron New Achilleus Electric Scooter is best suited to experienced riders looking for a substantial step beyond ordinary commuter performance while still valuing some degree of everyday practicality.

Its strongest features are the large 60V 35Ah LG battery, dual motors, NUTT hydraulic brakes, adjustable suspension, 11-inch tubeless tires, improved steering assembly, EY4 display, Bluetooth app connectivity, and upgraded lighting.

Riders prioritizing minimum weight or frequent transit use should consider a smaller model. Riders who want considerably more power and battery capacity can move further up Dualtron’s range.

For riders searching for a Dualtron New Achilleus Electric Scooter in Vancouver, it offers a compelling balance of performance, long-range capability, premium braking, adjustable ride comfort, and modern Dualtron connectivity without reaching the extreme size of the company’s flagship hyper-scooters.

I drove all the way from Seattle to bring my daughter's scooter to ProMechBC and I could not be more pleased with both the repairs and the customer service. I will definitely be bringing the scooter North of the border when it needs some love.

Recently had an accident with my Apollo Go — luckily nothing major was damaged, but it still needed some repair and replacement parts. Service was great, and I got my scooter back within a week. :D
